Getting Started
Families can enroll their students in Sacramento City Unified School District online or in person at our Enrollment Center. For complete enrollment information, including application links, required documentation, and office hours, visit our dedicated enrollment website.
2025-2026 Enrollment is ongoing throughout the year.
Students new to the district are automatically enrolled in their neighborhood school. Visit SchoolFinder to locate your family's neighborhood schools.
2026-2027 Enrollment
Kindergarten
Enrollment for Kindergarten begins January 13, 2026.
Children who turn 5 on or before September 1, 2026 can register for kindergarten (per California Education Code).

Open Enrollment (Grades K–8)
Students living within Sacramento City Unified boundaries can apply for available seats at other Sac City Unified schools or programs through our Open Enrollment process.
The Open Enrollment application window will be open Monday, February 2, 2026 - Friday, February 27, 2026.

Transfers & Permits
Students who wish to attend a school outside their neighborhood attendance area or who live outside district boundaries may apply for transfers or permits. Various types are available based on individual circumstances and available space.
